The Future of JointFire

Our Vision

The vision of the Boulder Emergency Squad is:

BES will continue to lead by example in the emergency services community. While refining our existing skills, we will grow by exploring new services, developing new members and ideas, and delivering high quality, progressive training."

We envision creating a single-source for the administration and oversight of fire/rescue training programs in Boulder County.  With course needs identified by a steering committee composed of members from each fire department, EMS agency, and other stakeholders, JointFire will effectively implement structural and wildland firefighting training as well as EMS and rescue education across Boulder County.

JointFire EMS Training

JointFire intends to become recognized by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment EMS Section as a state-certified EMT Continuing Education Training Group.  In addition, we intend to become certified by the Colorado Division of Fire Safety as a First Responder Training Center.  This will allow JointFire to offer EMS continuing education and refresher classes (required for providers to renew both their state and National Registry certifications) as well as initial First Responder certifications.

We expect to release more details and an implementation timeline in the second or third quarter of 2008.

JointFire Rescue Training

In addition to the basic rescue training integrated into the existing training programs, JointFire intends to offer awareness, operations, and technician-level rescue courses in areas such as dive rescue, swiftwater rescue, surface ice rescue, rope rescue, and auto extrication.  Courses in trench, collapse, and confined space rescue may be included as well.

BES already has more than 10 certified instructors in a number of rescue disciplines, collectively totaling hundreds of years of experience.  By extending our in-house education to Boulder County as-a whole, we can vastly improve the level of service provided to the community.

We expect to release more details and an implementation timeline in the second or third quarter of 2008.
